Choosing Wooden Handles for a Crochet Bag Workshop
Posted by Panda Crafty on
Begin with the finished bag structure
A wooden handle is not just a decorative add-on. Its shape, opening and attachment method affect the bag pattern, the amount of yarn or fabric, and the steps participants need to complete. Before ordering for a group, make one sample bag with the exact handle style you intend to use.
Record the finished bag width, the handle's outer and inner dimensions, and how the bag body connects to the handle. A round handle may need a different top edge from a D-shaped or slotted handle. Do not assume that a handle includes straps, tabs, fasteners, lining or yarn unless the selected product listing says so.
Build the workshop BOM
| Item | What to confirm before ordering |
|---|---|
| Wooden bag handles | Shape, outer and inner dimensions, colour or finish, individual-handle count and matching pairs |
| Bag body material | Yarn, cord or fabric required by the tested pattern; colour quantity calculated separately |
| Attachment section | Whether the pattern wraps around the handle or uses sewn/crocheted tabs, plus any fasteners the tested design needs |
| Lining and closure | Whether the sample includes lining, zipper, button or magnetic closure; source separately unless listed |
| Tools | Hook or needle size, scissors, measuring tools and the supervision required for your participants |
| Kit packaging | Components per participant, labels, instructions and a final count check |
Keep the handle count in individual pieces and pairs at the same time. One finished bag normally needs two matching handles when the tested design uses a pair, but the sample pattern is the authority.

Calculate pairs from the tested project
Use this worksheet: participants × matching handle pairs per tested bag = pairs required. Then convert pairs into individual handles and finally into the actual sales unit shown on the product page.
For an arithmetic example only, a 12-person workshop making one bag per person with one matching pair per bag needs 12 pairs, or 24 individual handles. A listing of 30 individual handles equals 15 pairs, so one such order unit would cover that example with three pairs remaining. This is a planning calculation, not a promise that every design uses one pair or that every listing contains 30 pieces. Confirm the selected listing and variant before ordering.
Make one full sample kit before packing the group order. Check that the bag opening, attachment section and handle dimensions work together. If participants can choose colours, count each colour separately instead of assuming an assortment will contain the required mix.
Compare a current standard option
Explore Panda Crafty's bag handle collection for standard shapes and pack sizes. One standard option, Wholesale 30PCS Round Wooden Bag Handles – 14 cm Outer Diameter, is described as 30 individual handles, equal to 15 pairs, with a 14 cm outer diameter and 11.5 cm inner diameter. Select the required colour variant and check current availability before ordering. The dimensions and count describe this option; they are not a promise of stock or delivery timing.
For a workshop, compare the tested bag pattern with the handle's actual dimensions and attachment method. Yarn, lining, closures, straps and tools are separate BOM items unless the chosen listing explicitly includes them.

Whether a specification can be supplied and its delivery arrangements must be confirmed for the actual project.
