Plan a bulk candle-wick order by preserving the wick identity and the candle formula it is intended to support. A generic label such as “candlewick” is not enough for a repeat order. Keep the supplier series and size together

Record the manufacturer or supplier reference, wick series and size as one identity. Size numbers are meaningful only inside the named series; the same number from another series or supplier should not be treated as an equivalent. State the declared wick material and construction, and ask the supplier to identify any coating or treatment rather than inferring it from colour or appearance.

Separate braided or otherwise constructed cord wicks from flat wooden wick formats. They require different specifications and should remain separate lines in the buying brief. A concept image or unburned sample cannot establish how either format will perform in a finished candle.

Define the supplied form and every unit

• Loose or pre-tabbed: say whether the wick is supplied as cut loose lengths, continuous material, pre-tabbed pieces or another identified form.
• Finished length: give the required length and unit for each wick option; do not use vessel volume as a substitute for length.
• Tab specification: for pre-tabbed wicks, identify the tab diameter, neck height and other required dimensions with units.
• Wooden-wick format: specify strip width, thickness, length, material declaration and any separate sustainer or clip requirement.
• Packing level: distinguish pieces per inner bag, bags per carton, continuous length per spool and any mixed-size assortment.

Compare quotations only when the wick identity, supplied form, dimensions and packing level match. A lower price per pack is not comparable when the piece count, length, tab or series differs.

Attach the wick request to the candle formula

Include the exact wax reference, the intended vessel and its relevant inside diameter, plus the fragrance and dye references if used. Supplier guidance can help identify a starting candidate, but it is not a guarantee that a wick will suit the finished candle. A change in wax, vessel, fragrance, dye, wick series or supplied form should remain visible in the purchasing record.

Keep trial quantities separate from the accepted repeat-order reference. Record the candidate material and the actual combination evaluated under the relevant supplier guidance. Build a decision-ready trial and refill brief

For a trial enquiry, list the candle format, wax, vessel reference and inside diameter, fragrance and dye, candidate wick series and sizes, supplied form, length, tab or wooden-wick dimensions, quantity per candidate, packing requirement and destination. For a repeat order, include the accepted supplier, series, size, supplied form and formula reference so a familiar-looking substitute does not silently replace a different component.
